GOV AHMED USMAN ODODO RELEASES A CHEQUE OF ₦69M TO KICK-START PROJECTS IN ILUKE-BUNU

Chief Dauda Momoh, the General Manager of Kogi Community and Social Development Agency, KGCSDA has lauded Governor Ododo for his prompt approval and release of the funds meant for the Community Social development projects in the state.

According to the Statement from the Public Relations of the KGCSDA, Mr Dickson Itodo and made available to Africa This Week  said that Chief Dauda Momoh handed out the commendation during the flag off of the
Projects in Iluke-Bunu, in West Senatorial District of Kogi State, North Central, Nigeria, Tuesday December 23rd, 2024.

The statement said the Agency General Manager, Chief Momoh Dauda assured the Iluke-Bunu community that they would not bear any financial burden for the Projects, describing it as a special intervention program from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo community infrastructural development initiatives.

A Nigerian prominent Activist and Lawyer Dele Farotimi is still behind bar, despite the bail orders from Federal High Court and the Magistrate Courts in Ado Ekiti , Southwest, Nigeria.

Report said in addition to the Federal High Court’s ruling, the Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti also granted Farotimi bail on Friday December 20, 2024, in connection with a separate case involving defamation charges.

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha has ordered for a watertight Security across the State throughout the Yuletide period and beyond.

According to the press statement from the office of Police Public Relations, SP William Ovye Aya and made available to Africa This Week on Monday 23rd December, 2024, charged members of the Command Management Team and Tactical Commanders at the Command Headquarters, Lokoja, kogi state , North Central, Nigeria that CP had ordered for a watertight Security across the State throughout the Yuletide period and beyond.

ECOWAS and the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD)
Signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the fields of Diplomacy, Good
Governance, Social Justice, Advocacy Strategy, Security and Growth Management in the
ECOWAS Region.

The copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) made available to Africa This Week was signed between the President of ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Omar Alieu Touray and the founder and Chairman of the SCDDD, Prof Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, on Tuesday December 17, 2024, at the Headquarters of ECOWAS Commission, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

ECOWAS ENDS TIES WITH NIGER, BURKINA FASO AND MALI JAN 29, 2025.

The Sub regional body Economic Community of West African States ,
ECOWAS said it would end its ties with the three aggrieved member states of the West African regional body on July 29 ,
2025

Announcing this at the 66th Extraordinary Meeting of Authority of the ECOWAS Head of states Commission in Abuja, the Nigeria’s capital over the weekend, the President of the regional body, Omar Alieu Touray said the three members of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger would officially ceased to be members of ECOWAS starting from January 29, 2025 with a cooling off period of Six months and final exist on July 29, 2025.

At the start of the meeting the Chairman of ECOWAS Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the outgoing President of Ghana Nana Akufo Ado for being a true Democrat with a standing ovation and applause.

PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS A NEW ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant-General of the Federation.

The appointment was announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the Presidential Spokesman Mr Ogunjimi’s appointment started immediately, following the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent AGF, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.

Former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, of the opposition party has won the 2024 Ghana’s Presidential election.

Report said the President-elect had already scored 64 percent of the votes countered sofar without official announcement from Ghanaian Electoral umpire.

According the report John Dramani Mahama who was the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress party (NDC), had been declared the winner of Ghana’s Presideential Election on Sunday December 8, 2024.

Africa This Week in an exclusive gathered on Wednesday December 4, 2024, that Prof Gambari, the former Under Secretary General, incharge of political Affairs and former UN Chairman Committee on Peace Keeping Operation was on his way to Paris, France capital to discuss the readness of African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Forces Assignment.

The Former UN Under-Secretary and former AU Chairman African Peer-Review Mechaniism told Africa This Week that the AU Peace Keeping project was very dear to his heart.

” I had chaired an expert group in 2016 to assess the state of readiness of the Force which was to have been operational by 2015.
