The Suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara is due to return to office as duelly democratically elecyed governor of the Oil- rich Rivers State of South South part of Nigeria.
Reports sighted by #Africa This Week indicated that the l declaration followed a growing political crisis in the state between supporters of both politicians.
“President Bola Tinubu on Thursday June 26, 2025 hosted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara to a peace talk.
The president’s meeting with Wike and Fubara comes barely three months after he suspended the latter and declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State”, the report stated
At a reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rockvat the nation’s capital, the president brought together all the top political parties involved in or affected by the state crisis.
Bayo Onanuga, an aide to the president on information and strategy was reportedly seen in a video post on X, formerly known as Twitter that the meeting had the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and all other lawmakers from the state in attendance.
