President Bola Tinubu has removed Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and dissolved its board.

The Special Adviser to the president on information and strategy Bayo Onanuga, announced this Wednesday morning April 2, 2025.

According to the statement the decision was reached to “enhanced operational efficiency, restored investor confidence, and a more commercially viable NNPC”.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu invoked his powers under section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 to carry out the sweeping reconstitution”, the statement add.

Meanwhile, Bayo Ojulari takes over from Kyari as the new Group CEO, while Ahmadu Musa Kida has been appointed as NNPC’s new non-executive chairman, replacing Pius Akinyelure. Also, Adedapo Segun has been confirmed as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO).

The statement further said, in line with the Petroleum Industrial Act (PIA), the President had also announced the appointment of six non-executive directors from each geopolitical zone.

A high-level delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission met with the Speaker of the Liberian Legislature, Hon. Richard Nabe Koon, and members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 25, 2025

The Sub regional body ECOWAS High-Powered delegation were in Liberian Capital, Monrovia. to discuss recent developments at the Capitol Building, particularly regarding the recent impasse resulting to a leadership transition in the country.

The Founder and Chairman of Savannah Center for Diplomacy, Democracy,and Development, SCDDD; and the former Chief of Staff to the immediate past Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, Prof Ibrahim A. Gambari who led the ECOWAS delegation disclosed this in a text message to Africa This Week yesterday Thursday March 27, 2025 from Monrovia, Liberia.

Prof Gambari said the meeting provided an opportunity for the Speaker and members of the House to present a comprehensive file containing key exhibits related to the procedural steps taken in the removal of former Speaker, Grand Kru County Electoral District 2
Representative Hon. Jonathan Fonati Koffa.

“The file also detailed the dissolution and reconstitution of House committees, among other legislative actions”, the message revealed like

Leadingthe ECOWAS delegation, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, former UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, clarified that the team was not in Liberia as a mediation body, as previously speculated, but stated that Liberia’s problems can only be solved by Liberians, emphasizing that external parties cannot impose solutions without the commitment of domestic stakeholders.

Commotions broke out today Thursday, February 20, 2025 in the Nigerian Upper Legislative Chamber, the Senate when the Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered the lawmaker representing Kogi Central out of the Red Chamber.

The Report said the commotion in the Senate started over the seating arrangement of lawmakers in the Upper Chamber.

“Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was relocated, however, the Kogi lawmaker refused to comply with the reviewed seating arrangement as approved by the Senate President.

In the process, the Senate’s Chief Whip, Ali Monguno drew the attention of Akpabio to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “improper seating position”.

According to some online reports, for instance, a Nigerian entrepreneur and media personality, Lady Golfer calls out Sen. Natasha Akpoti over her fierce exchange with Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during Thursday February 20th, 2025 plenary session.

Lady Golfer described Natasha’s actions as disrespectful and rude, urging her to tender an apology to elderly and experienced Senate President.

The reports say, “Nigerian entrepreneur, Lady Golfer has wade-in on the drama that occurred between Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and Sen. Natasha Akpoti during a recent plenary session on Thursday February 20, 2025”.

Recall Senator Natasha Akpoti representing Kogi Central at the Nigerian Upper Legislative Chamber was ruled out of order when she insisted to know why her seat was changed without her consent by the Senate President, but she wasn’t having it and proceeded despite Akpabio’s ruling.

The Nigerian Labour Congress has called on Nigerians not to make phone call, text or purchase data between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The umbrella of Labour Movement in Nigeria, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has also advised Labour to participate in nonviolent demonstrations against telecom companies for raising rates without following the proper procedures.

Organized labor made this known in a televiision interview in Nigeria last Thursday.

NLC said that “the telecom companies had disregarded the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) it had signed over the tariff increase with the Nigerian government last week.

Therefore NLC has advisee Nigerians Not to Call, Text, or Purchase Data Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Executive Governor of Kogi State ,His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured the people of Oke-Offin community in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of more development projects in their areas.

His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the assurance during the commissioning of a block of classrooms and a motorized borehole in the community on Thursday February 6, 2025.

The governor who was represented by the State Security Adviser, Rtd Commander Jerry Omodara at the event expressed satisfaction with the completion of the projects.

He lamented previously lack of government presence in Oke-Offin’s secondary school, but reassured the community that from now hencefort Gov Ododo’s administration would continue to deliver developmental projects to improve the quality of life in the area.
